When it comes to large-scale forest restoration, MORFO's four-step approach stands out: diagnosis planning, planting and monitoring. Powered by advanced technology such as drones, machine learning and AI, MORFO's mission is to restore forests efficiently, but above all with high quality. That's why, even with state-of-the-art tools, expert guidance is essential to guarantee success.
The crucial role of MORFO's Scientific Advisory Board in guiding our research efforts
MORFO's Scientific Advisory Board helps us refine our strategies, improve our R&D processes and rigorously evaluate project results. Thanks to their expertise, we are confident in our ability to make a real impact in forest restoration. Board members include:
- Research strategy advisors: guiding MORFO's overall research direction, aligning R&D objectives with the company's mission, particularly in the fields of soil science and ecosystem restoration.
- R&D optimization specialists: helping to structure and optimize the research division, focusing on soil science and ecosystem restoration.
- Collaboration facilitators: recommending strategic scientific partnerships in ecosystem restoration, particularly to improve soil quality.
- Project evaluators: assessing current and proposed research projects, particularly those related to soil quality and restoration, to improve their effectiveness.
MORFO's Scientific Advisory Board welcomes three new experts
Under the leadership of Emira Cherif, our Scientific Director, MORFO's Scientific Advisory Board now includes three new members, each bringing a unique expertise to the team.
Fatima Pina-Rodrigues
This seasoned forest restoration researcher, with over 40 years' experience and five degrees, is an invaluable addition to our board. Based in Brazil, Fatima is a professor at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and has trained thousands of students and advised government agencies on environmental policies. Her insights are crucial in assessing MORFO's projects and ensuring that they meet scientific standards.
Igor Assis
From the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV), Igor specializes in forestry and ecological studies. With expertise in forest ecology and soil management, Igor helps us refine our strategies and implement sustainable practices in our projects.
Jean-Christophe Avarre
As Deputy Director at the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD), he brings an in-depth knowledge of environmental sciences, particularly aquatic ecosystems. Jean-Christophe's contribution is essential in shaping MORFO's research strategies and ensuring that they are ecologically viable.
